Baron Zemo

No, actually it's not Marvel's Baron Zemo but Kingdom Death's The King's Hand (plastic, by Thomas David?)

Arachnarok Lurking in the Shadows

GW's Arachnarok (plastic, by Colin Grayson, Alex Hedström and Aly Morrison)

This was done for my son's Greenskinz army. The base is made with polystyrene and false plants from IKEA.

I have made it modular so both versions can be used, with the grot chaman, or with the spider-ball catapult.

WIP: Lewis Chessman

This is a project of a base for a mini done with the king from the Lewis Chessmen set.

I bought that piece in the British Museum last year.

Speed Painting Marathon: Cthulhu Wars

Sandy Petersen's Cthulhu Wars Minis (plastic, by a bunch of 3-d artists)

I just thought these extra minis from Cthulhu Wars' Kickstarter deserved some eldritch colours instead of the red plastic they are made of.

1 hour priming + 1 hour inking + 6 hour painting = 8 hours for 39 minis! 5 minis an hour, not bad for speed painting.

That was a bit tiresome in the end though. Now I want to go back to single miniatures...

Speed painting: Cthulhu markers

Cthulhu markers from the Call of Cthulhu LCG by FFG (plastic, by ???).

Played some games with my son. It was a shame those were not painted yet. They are now.

Speed painting: 3 hours (1 hour priming, 1 hour inking, 1 hour painting details)

More Cthulhu minis next...

Duel: Skaven versus Kharadron Overlord

GW's limited 2011 Games Day Skaven mini (metal, by Jes Goodwin?) + Brokk Grungsonn (plastic, by Martin Footit and Oliver Norman).

This is something I wanted to do a long time ago.

The skaven and the flame were done in 2012 and presented at Games Day Germany 2012. The flame thrower was the penis of the mechanical steed of an Empire's engineer. Not very politically correct. No surprise it got me disqualified for the Golden Demon competition.

The mechanical steed of the engineer can be seen there (without its flame-throwing penis):

Since then, I have been waiting for something flying which could also throw flames. I was expecting a dragon, but Brokk came out first.

Finally, I think these two go rather well together.

The infamous mechanical steed (the only picture I've got left of this earlier version)

Brokk Grungsson Lord-Magnate of Barak-Nar

GW's Brokk Grungsson Lord-Magnate of Barak-Nar (plastic, by Oliver Norman and Martin Footitt)

Excellent mini to paint but Brokk is not that easy to assemble (about 50 pieces!). There are so many details that I had to overlook some. Otherwise it would have taken ages to complete. I would never have expected Games Workshop to go steampunk, but they did.

The base is from Scibor Monstrous. I mixed two different bases actually.

You can notice that the cannon is not put straight over Brokk's head. In fact, it has been modified to fit a duel piece I am about to post next (may be tomorrow...).
